The spring breeze and rain make everything bright. From April 7 to 9, 2023, the “Chinese Medical Association 2023 National Joint Surgery Conference, Qinling Joint Surgery Conference, National Orthopaedic Infection Conference, and the 2nd Intelligent Orthopaedic Conference” were held in Xi’an, Shanxi Province.
Organized by the Chinese Medical Association and the Orthopaedic Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and hosted by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the conference was held in various forms, including presentations and case discussions, to enlighten each other and build consensus. The conference invited top domestic experts in the field of joint surgery and internationally renowned academic organizations such as Ao Recon and HSS (Hospital for Special Surgery) to gather and bring an academic feast of new developments and trends in orthopedics.
The conference was chaired by Prof. DAI Kerong, Prof. QIU Guixing, Prof. CHEN Saijuan, Prof. ZHANG Yingze, Prof. WANG Yan, Prof. LÜ Houshan, Prof. CHEN Shiyi and Prof. CHEN Baicheng as honorary chairmen, Prof. WANG Kunzheng as conference chairman, Prof. YANG Pei as executive chairman, Prof. QU Tiebing, Prof. HU Yihe, Prof. CAO Li and Prof. ZHANG Xianlong as academic committee chairmen, Prof. ZHAO Xing as secretary general, Prof. WANG Zhiqi and 12 other experts as secretary. There were more than 300 domestic well-known experts as members of the Academic Committee and the Organizing Committee.
At the opening ceremony of the conference, Beijing LDK Technology Co., Ltd. held the “Chinese Material Science Innovative Tantalum Product System and Domestic First Tantalum Coated Femoral Stem Launching Ceremony”. Professor Wang Kunzheng, Director of the Joint Surgery Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Department of Medicine of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Chairman-designate of the Orthopaedic Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Head of the Joint Surgery Group, delivered a speech, giving an objective evaluation of LDK’s 25 years of technical precipitation and R&D innovation. To provide more comprehensive replacement solutions for doctors and patients.

LDK STH Tantalum Coated Femoral Stem is the first domestic tantalum metal coated biologically fixed femoral stem with an exclusive patented innovative tantalum coating technology, which provides an excellent tantalum metal coating interface. The product’s coating and molding technology has successfully broken through the international traditional vapor deposition technology barrier and overcome the tantalum metal’s high technical difficulty of physical forming and spraying method, which has higher biosafety. The surface coating has been modified and designed to be rougher and more stable initially. The flat wedge shape design can fully retain bone volume, which is conducive to the growth of bone tissue into the tantalum porous structure and guarantees long-term stability.
The birth of LDK STH tantalum-coated femoral stem marks China’s orthopedic instrument technology research and development into the international first-class level, breaking the monopoly of foreign enterprises in the field of tantalum metal prosthesis.
China Material Science Innovation Tantalum Product Strategic Cooperation Signing
As a new type of coating material, tantalum metal has obvious advantages in mechanical properties, physicochemical properties and biocompatibility. Professor Zhao Dewei from Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with LDK for innovative tantalum products in China’s material science.
Zhongshan Hospital, affiliated to Dalian University, is one of the first national tertiary class A hospitals in Liaoning Province. With the close cooperation of LDK abd Professor Zhao Dewei, the leader of the department and orthopedic medicine and biomedical materials science, a series of new domestic porous tantalum products have been successfully developed and clinically applied,
